Bubi RDC Conducts Training for Natural Resource Monitors and Hands Over Bicycles

Bubi Rural District Council successfully conducted a training workshop for Natural Resource Monitors drawn from various wards across the district. The training was aimed at strengthening community-based natural resource management and equipping monitors with the knowledge and skills required to effectively safeguard environmental resources within their communities.

The workshop was held in collaboration with key stakeholders including the Forestry Commission, Environmental Management Agency, and Habakkuk Trust, who provided technical guidance and expertise on environmental conservation, sustainable resource management, environmental monitoring, and reporting.

Participants were trained on various topics including the protection of forests and water sources, veld fire prevention, environmental stewardship, data collection and reporting, and community awareness on sustainable natural resource utilization. The training emphasized the critical role that Natural Resource Monitors play in promoting environmental sustainability and supporting local development initiatives.

As part of the programme, the Chief Executive Officer of Bubi Rural District Council, Dr. Patson Mlilo, officially handed over bicycles to the Natural Resource Monitors. The bicycles are expected to improve the mobility of monitors, enabling them to effectively carry out environmental monitoring activities, conduct field visits, and submit timely reports from their respective wards.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Dr. Mlilo commended the monitors for their commitment to protecting natural resources and encouraged them to utilize the bicycles responsibly in service of their communities. He also expressed appreciation to the partner organizations for their continued support in promoting environmental conservation and sustainable development within the district.

The initiative demonstrates Bubi Rural District Council's commitment to strengthening environmental governance and empowering communities to actively participate in the protection and sustainable management of natural resources for future generations.
