Bubi Business Expo Boosts Local Economy and Enterprise

The two-day Bubi District Business Expo and Agricultural Show, held at the Inyathi Training Centre under the theme "Resilient and Gainful Enterprises Towards Vision 2030: Our Collective Responsibility," concluded on Friday.

The event brought together small-scale farmers, miners, and local entrepreneurs to showcase homegrown goods, access new markets, and foster economic partnerships.

Key Highlights:

Economic Self-Reliance: Dr. Patson Mlilo, Chief Executive Officer of the Bubi Rural District Council, emphasized that the district has the agricultural capacity to feed itself and urged residents to prioritize local produce.

Support for Vision 2030: Ward 8 Councillor Ignatious Khabo noted that encouraging local enterprise aligns with national goals to ensure self-sufficient communities by 2030.

Market Exposure for Small Businesses: Local exhibitors, such as leather manufacturer Samukeliso Mabhena, highlighted how the event provided critical exposure, direct customer access, and valuable networking.

Government Support: High-profile delegates—including Dr. Mavis Sibanda (Permanent Secretary for Women Affairs, SME Development), Chief Mtshane Khumalo, and government representatives—toured the exhibition, reaffirming state backing for rural enterprise growth.

By fostering local consumption and helping small-scale producers scale their operations, the expo aims to circulate capital within Bubi, strengthen household incomes, and create sustainable employment opportunities across the district.
